Being Consistently Persistent

Dan Carey is the CEO of The Janitorial Agency, a company that specializes in training other ambitious entrepreneurs how to start their own very lucrative cleaning business.  Here he takes a quick moment to share his thoughts with BusinessOpportunity.com’s Entrepreneur Exchange on what it takes to make it in business, challenges new business owners face and why persistence is the name of the game:

“Making it in business requires drive, persistence and, in my case, a partner who can help motivate and push you through the times when you’re struggling and lose sight of the vision… and vice versa,” Carey says.

“One of the greatest challenges any new business owner can face is setting unrealistic projections that can’t be met.  Not making this critical mistake requires tremendous research.  In fact, I believe a company should perform at least six months of research before going into business.  The alternative to this approach would be to invest in a business model that is already proven and has been shown to be successful,” he continues.  “It’s also important to consider the idea of under-promising expectations.  That way there is always the potential to over-deliver results.  This approach beats setting high expectations for results and then ending up frustrated and with a potential business failure on your hands, possibly due to poor budget management, any day of the week.”

According to Carey, any successful business owner will tell you that the only way to get to the top is by trial and error.  The old adage, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again,” couldn’t be more accurate in his view.  In fact, asked to share his main motto about starting a business with other budding entrepreneurs, Carey sums it all up in four simple words ― “Always be consistently persistent.”

More about Dan and his company:

As a 20-something young man with a true entrepreneurial spirit, Dan Carey saw a need for someone to do a dirty job, and he decided to take the initiative.  He and his cousin, Steve Conner, started a cleaning company that within one year had secured more than 70 janitorial accounts and generated profits in excess of $1 million.  After four years of meticulous research and preparation, Dan and Steve have created a business opportunity for other individuals who want to replicate The Janitorial Agency commercial cleaning business model and become equally successful.
