Do You Love What You Do?

Many often ask this question of entrepreneurs, but have you ever asked it of yourself? Do I really love what I do? Maybe what you do is out of a real necessity or perhaps you feel the "need" to do it. If you are in business for yourself and don’t know the answer to this question, you need to ask it now. Being passionate about what you do, whether it is biking, writing, being a stay-at-home mother or operating a home-based business, will ultimately be the deciding factor in whether you stick with it long-term. It might even dictate the profitability of your venture.

Many “self-help” books and “motivational speakers” will often advise you to pursue your passion and do what you love. This is great advice, but doing what you love and making money are often very different things and quite complicated when you really think about it.

When I was young I was in business for myself at the age of six and loved what I was doing. Truth be told I had no clue what I was doing but I was actually making a profit doing it. I truly enjoyed what I was doing and to this day whatever I decide to do I’m very passionate about it. I love what I do and therefore it motivates me daily in making the most out of each and every day.

In order to be successful over the long-term you need a few things: Drive, motivation, passion, experience, knowledge (especially in your desired field), and the love of what you do. If you begin a home-based business that you don’t enjoy doing,you will fail in the end. Sure you’ll make some money, but if you can make money and be happy simultaneously that would be priceless. So, before you decide to go into business and become falsely motivated by dollar signs that sales people try to brainwash you with, ask yourself if you’ll truly be happy doing it. If the answer is no, then keep looking for the right business opportunity that will truly make you happy and the rest will fall into place.

After all, how much are you supposed to love what you do in life? If you don’t know the answer to this question then how will you know if you have reached your goal?
