Feeling Cooped Up This Winter?
21 Feb Posted by: Kevin James Culp
in Working From Home

In many cases, working at home can create the best of both worlds. You can work at home and be with your family at the same time. Sometimes you can mix these two elements of your life so seamlessly that you often don’t know if you are working or enjoying watching your children grow up. Maybe you’re even enjoying watching your budding business opportunity grow if you are single.

Many, however, face a challenge that they never knew would be such an issue when they opened their new home-based business. Cabin fever for stay-at-home workers can lead to anxiety and worse health issues. It’s that claustrophobic feeling that you get when you feel that you've been cooped up for too long indoors. Staying indoors for too long can be tough to do.

Maybe you are on east coast right now and not used to big snowstorms that can have you eating canned food that you never knew you had or watching movies late at night for lack of something better to be doing. You can work for only so long. It becomes unhealthy not to change your routine from time to time. After all, you decided to work at home for one reason or another but never thought it would be a cage you wanted out of.

So, if you find yourself indoors right now you need to get out and do something other than work. This is especially true during the winter months. You might not want to go out, but it is important to go out even if it means dawning heavy coats and bulky hats. Getting some fresh air, restocking your bare shelves, building a snowman with your family or just taking a short walk can center yourself in ways you might have been missing. Go out; take a deep breath in that cold, crisp air that will fill your lungs to provide you with a sense of freshness. It’s actually very rejuvenating even when 20 below! It is not only mentally invigorating; it is also good for your body too.

Carpe Diem My Friends!

The start of summer can be a really stressful time of year for a particular group of people―home-based business owners.  Why?  At the risk of stating the obvious―the kids are around, the weather’s nice, everyone’s off their usual routine…  Shall I continue?  All the distractions you’re not used to having...

More of us work from home than ever before.  And although most of us spend a considerable amount of time and money keeping our homes looking nice and comfortable, that doesn’t always translate to our home offices.  In fact, it’s a good bet that relatively few of us give much thought to our home office...
